Pinterest for Business - New Showcase

Pinterest for Business - New Showcase
Pinterest has added a new feature for branding your business. It's a slideshow type header that they call a showcase. You can pick your best Pinterest boards for the slideshow that will represent you and your business. Another nice update is the consistent new design for your profile across web and devices.

So what does your Pinterest page look like now? On the left is your name and on the right is your profile image. In the center is your business description. Just under these is the new showcase. But don't worry. It's invisible to everyone but you until you set it up for all to see. Under the showcase are two tabs for toggling between your boards and your pins.

Now that we know the new layout, it's time to set up the showcase feature. It's very easy. Go to your profile page and click on the Plus icon to build your showcase. If you don't see the blank showcase on your profile page, go to your Account Settings - Profile. There you will see a new section called Showcase with an Edit button. Click that button.

On the Edit Showcase page, you will see five drop-down menus for selecting the five Pinterest boards that you wish to showcase. You can showcase only one or all five. Back on your profile page, the showcase will move through each board cover, in the order that you added each board. So, add your most important boards at the top of the list.

To the right of each board cover, it will display small thumbnails for four pins from that board. It will also display the board name and number of pins. The images in the showcase are clickable links to each board.

If your board cover graphic is not a square, it will be cropped. So be sure to place the important info in the hot area. If you have not set up a board cover for one of your chosen boards, the showcase will randomly choose pins to display in a grid.

Of course, you can change which of your boards to showcase at any time. For example, you might want to showcase boards for new, seasonal or sale products. You can create a new board.

Personally, I like the new feature but it would be nice to have the option of choosing the individual pins from your boards. As of now, the pins are chosen randomly. Also, the board cover is the largest image in each slide, so you may want to set a product image as the board cover.

If you have set up Buyable Pins, your shop will be the first image in the showcase.
