Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter isn’t your typical boy. After his parents are killed, he’s sent to live with his unbearable Uncle Vernon Dursley and Aunt Petunia as well as their son, Dudley, where he’s forced to live in a cupboard under the stairs. Everything changes when he receives a letter for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Trusting in the giant Hagrid, he embarks on the new adventure where he makes friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. But Harry also learns that some wizards aren’t what they seem and some—such as Voldemort, who killed Harry’s parents—have evil intents. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”.
∙ The Sorting Hat places Hermione into Gryffindor. She runs to the Gryffindor table and sits to the right side of Percy. When Ron is sorted into Gryffindor, he sits on the opposite side of the table across from them. When it’s Harry’s turn, he sits at the table, next to Ron. But, when the feast begins, Harry is now sitting beside Percy, opposite Ron, with Hermione sitting to his right.
∙ Professor Snape bursts into Potions class and begins talking. Harry is writing down what Snape is saying and the close-up of the notebook shows his handwriting is small and neat between the lines, down the middle of the page. When Snape looks at Harry and remarks “…to not pay attention…”, the close-up of Harry and Hermione shows the writing takes up the page.
∙ Harry, Ron and Hermione are talking to Hagrid about Fluffy. Ron’s scarf is draped down the front, hanging straight. When Hermione comments “Hogwarts teachers are not…”, the close-up of the three of them shows Ron’s scarf is askew, hanging onto his left shoulder. But, when Hagrid mentions Nicholas Flamel, Ron’s scarf is hanging down in front once more.
∙ The trio are talking when Harry mentions the dragon egg. Hermione is carrying her satchel in her right hand. But, as they start running toward Hagrid’s hut, the rear view shows nothing in her right hand. The satchel is in her left hand when she stops running.
∙ Near the end of the movie, when the trio is looking down the trap door, Fluffy suddenly awakens behind them. Harry, Hermione and Ron are oblivious to the impending danger until a large gob of drool falls onto Ron’s shoulder. They immediately jump through the trap door and land in the Devil’s Snare. Fluffy’s drool has suddenly disappeared from Ron’s shoulder.
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (2001) stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Fiona Shaw, Richard Griffiths, Alan Rickman, John Cleese, Zoe Wanamaker, Warwick Davis, Verne Troyer, Julie Walters, Bonnie Wright, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Matthew Lewis, and Tom Felton. It runs 152 minutes and is rated PG for some scary moments and mild language.
