Healthy Skin During Summer Weather
Keeping Your Skin Clean and Healthy During Summer Weather
As we transition through the hot weather, one of the things that should be taken into consideration is that you keep your basic skin care regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturizing in full effect. With summer heat we have a tendency to perspire, and perspire in places that we don’t have to concern ourselves with as much in the winter as in the summer.
For instance, a lot of you have talked about sweating in your hair in the summertime, or sweating between your breast or thighs. That’s because you’ve got body heat rising as far as your natural universe is concerned, and when coupled with the heat of summer it enhances and makes everything that much more intensifying.
Another thing to consider, especially with the body heat concept, is to watch the fabrics that you wear. Fabrics such as polyester and rayon, or a blend of both is going to generate more body heat in summer. Those particular fabrics don’t always produce the best body odor because they are not natural fibers. So keep that in mind when you’re looking at why you might be perspiring a bit more than you typically do.
Now, back to your face (cleanse, toning and moisturizing). You want to make sure that you do this at least twice a day (morning and night) and if you find that you are outside more often than not in the summer, it’s always a good idea to keep a spray mist bottle with spring water and you can mist your face midday to give it a refreshed feeling as well as help cool down a bit.
You can add a drop or two of lavender essential oil to 4 oz of spring water spray mist bottle. This will just keep you refreshed and the scent of lavender will often help you relax through the heat and any stressful times.
Finding That Radiant Glow of Summer Skin
You might also want to consider exfoliation, which will help remove dead skin cells to enhance that radiant glow that you’ll see often times in the summer.
One of the reasons that you can experience that radiant glow is to wear less makeup. Makeup has a way of providing the flawless look that we all seek, but when it’s hot outside, if you’re going to wear makeup, apply a very thin layer so that you won’t feel as though you’re suffocating or your skin won’t begin to have challenges of breaking out.
Not all makeup is natural (most isn’t), so you’re still dealing with chemicals that you’re applying to your skin. In a lot of makeup, you have ingredients that will definitely clog your pores in the summertime. They don’t take well to heat and when you’re perspiring and you’re packing on makeup to gain that flawless complexion, you could in essence be hindering the very thing that you’re trying to achieve. Once you apply makeup heavily and you begin to perspire and it has nowhere to go, your skin is going to turn on you by producing blackheads and bumps and this is not what you’re looking for.
So keeping your skin clean, exfoliating your face, wearing not make up or applying makeup in extremely light coats will allow you to have that natural radiant complexion that you’re looking for.
The same rules will apply for your body, to exfoliate your body, chest, legs, back and feet, you’ll have a nice feeling to your skin that will also enhance the natural appearance of your skin. Slothing away dead skin cells that will build up, and wearing lighter weight clothes with natural fibers will allow your skin to breathe.
As your skin breathes it gets more sunlight and air and just like anything that gets those better qualities, it’s going to be beautiful. So take these tips and use them for summer and you will experience flawless, radiant, beautiful skin.
That's it for this week.
