Cleaning Your Camping Equipment
Going camping or traveling can be such a memorable and fun activity. However, if you don't properly take care and maintain your current equipment then it can become unbelievably expensive. Just a few tricks and tips to keeping your camp equipment in tip top shape for your every adventure!
First -
Always clean your equipment before you pack it away. If you are out camping and don't have time to get it cleaned properly, then make sure that within a day or two of you coming home you get it done. Nothing destroys tents or dutch ovens quicker than standing water. Make sure your supplies are completely dried out. Tents need to be swept completely before packing them away. If you notice dirt accumulating on it - then it is time to set it up at home and wash it with dish soap. Make sure you follow the cleaning instructions for your equipment specifically so you don't inadvertently damage it.
Second -
Take time to categorize what you have and what you will need for your next trip - as you put things away. This will save you time and money. This will also make packing for your next adventure go must quicker.
Third -
If something is in disrepair take time to log it, fix it or toss it. Depending on what it is, you will most likely want to fix it. Keeping a running list of what needs repair will help you stay on top of what you need to do to be ready to go camping.
Fourth -
Always follow the directions on your equipment. Turn in your warranty information. Set things up correctly and take them down correctly. This will lengthen the life of your equipment - no matter what it is.
Fifth -
Be prepared! Make sure you have the tools necessary for clean up with you when you go on your adventures. This will save you time and money later.
To recap, make sure you clean your equipment before packing it away AT your adventure site. Note any repairs or cleaning that needs to be done and then when you get home: do them! No excuses!
Whatever your adventures are - make sure to have fun!
Make it a great one!
