Star Wars - Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back
George Lucas continued the Star Wars saga with the rebel alliance in hiding on the ice planet of Hoth. After Luke Skywalker is almost killed in a wampa attack, he’s instructed by Obi Wan Kenobi to travel to the distant planet, Dagobah, to continue his Jedi training with the illusive Jedi Master, Yoda. The no-nonsense and somewhat skeptical Yoda, soon puts his young protégé through his grueling paces. However, while Luke is gone, Darth Vader, is still intent on capturing him and squashing the rebel alliance. With the help of Lando Calrissian, who oversees Cloud City, Darth Vader manages to capture Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 in hopes of luring Luke into helping his friends and ultimately convincing him to turn to the dark side of the force. Here are some movie mistakes to look for while watching “Star Wars – Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back”.
∙ While they’re stationed on Hoth, Luke and Han are caught in an overnight snowstorm. When the search crew is out the next morning looking for them, even though it’s sunny, the aircrafts never cast a shadow on the snow or ice.
∙ Darth Vader kills Captain Needa. A few moments later, in the background, the lifeless body of Captain Needa is being carried out of the room. Even though he’s dead, the captain helps himself to stand.
∙ While they’re traveling in the Millennium Falcon, Leia becomes tired of hearing C-3PO talk and shuts him down. In the following scenes, even though he’s powered off, he still has subtle movements.
∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! An injured Luke is hanging onto the antenna outside of Cloud City. When the Millennium Falcon arrives, Lando opens the hatch to bring him in. In the background, the sky appears blue. However, in the original version of the movie, close-ups show a blue sky while wider views revealed a red sky. (This has since been corrected in the Special Edition releases of the movie.)
“Star Wars – Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” (1980) stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Frank Oz. It runs 124 minutes and is rated PG for sci-fi action violence.
