I’ll Never Let You Go Review
Leah Carson (Latimer) called 911 in a panic when her estranged cop-husband tried to kill her, breaking a protection order she had in place. Before help arrived he had stabbed her twenty-three times. Not to long after that he was killed in a car accident.
Four years later, Leah was active in a veterinary practice and building a new life. She vowed never to date a cop after her experience with her now deceased husband.
One night she ran into Alex Morgan, a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent – a cop who investigated other cops. He was shunned by those who used to be friends and was often called a traitor and a turn-coat, but he took his assignment to heart.
When police found a burned torso with no hands, head or feet, they found a possible tie with Detective Deirdre Jones, a friend of Leah’s. When Leah and Alex met at a popular local bar, and later at Leah’s veterinary practice, he befriended her because she was close to Deirdre.
When another murder occurred in a way that suggested Leah’s husband could still be alive, Alex and his brother Deke, head of the Nashville Police Department Homicide Squad, sprang into action.
I’ll Never Let You Go, by Mary Burton, is the third novel out of four in the highly regarded series featuring the Morgan’s of Nashville series, focusing on an incomparable Nashville law enforcement family beginning with Cover Your Eyes and Be Afraid. As of this writing, Mary has published twenty-seven novels and five novellas.
The author’s crisp dialogue, attention to detail, and strong settings will draw readers into the action. Every scene leads to the next in such a way that tension builds to the point where, by the time readers get to the climax, they may struggle to take a deep breath.
The edgy action packed novel is a thrill to read as anticipation rises. It’s like watching a scary movie where we close our eyes, but can’t resist taking a peek because the story is so good.
This is one of the best series I’ve read in quite a long time, and I’m looking forward to reading more of Mary Burton’s stories.
If you are interested in picking up I'll Never Let You Go (Morgans of Nashville), or any other of her novels, they are available at Amazon.com.
