Narnia - The Ancient Prophecy of Narnia
There is an ancient prophecy of Narnia that tells of two Daughters of Eve and two Sons of Adam coming to Narnia. The four humans are the rightful rulers of Narnia. Aslan has deemed humans to be the true rulers. Queen Jadis, the White Witch is a pretender to the throne.
Queen Jadis, the White Witch is aware of the ancient prophecy of Narnia. Not wanting to lose her control on Narnia, she declares a new law. Any human found in Narnia is to be brought to her. There are dire repercussions for those who defy the law.
Aslan in C. S. Lewis’ book, The Magician’s Nephew, creates Narnia. He crowns a Cabby and his wife, humans, as the first King and Queen of Narnia. He calls female humans “Daughters of Eve.” The male humans are “Sons of Adam.”
The four Pevensie children: Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy fit the human requirements of the ancient prophecy. It is the reason Mrs. Beaver is so excited to meet the children. She doesn’t believe the four humans are arriving during her lifetime. Clearly, she views the children as saviors of Narnia and the ancient prophecy is coming true.
Queen Jadis, the White Witch is of an opposite opinion. The arrival of the four Pevensie siblings means the end of her rule of Narnia. Narnia has been in her icy grip for one hundred years. Like any true despot, she wants to keep her evil rule. She is determined to foil the prophecy coming true.
The ancient prophecy of Narnia is the catalyst for the action in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Aslan and his followers want the prophecy to become true.
