An American Werewolf In London
David Kessler and his best friend, Jack Goodman, are backpacking their way across England when they find themselves at a local village pub. After a not so friendly welcome, the two wander across the Moors where they find themselves in imminent danger and the ultimate victims of a werewolf attack. While Jack is killed in the melee, David finds himself recuperating at a London hospital where he strikes up a romance with his nurse, Alex. But it may not be happily ever after for the young couple when the full moon arrives and strange things begin to happen to David. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “An American Werewolf In London”.
· Inspector Villiers and Sergeant McManus meet with Dr. Hirsch in his office. Dr. Hirsch offers them tea. When McManus says he’d like some, the rear view of Dr. Hirsch shows him reaching for the intercom with his left hand. It cuts to a front view of him and Dr. Hirsch is reaching for the intercom with his right hand.
· Dr. Hirsch buys a local newspaper from a street vendor. While he’s reading, a close-up of the paper shows the headline of “Murder Victims Found Half Eaten”. The text directly under it relates to the headline, but the story that follows under the writer’s name is about the proposed march by the “New National Front and the police department”.
· CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! The werewolf is wreaking havoc on the theatergoers in Piccadilly Circus. As Inspector Villiers walks up to the barricade, the werewolf breaks through and attacks him. The second close-up of the werewolf grasping Villiers’ neck shows the creature’s bottom right fang bending as he bites.
“An American Werewolf In London” (1981) stars David Naughton, Griffin Dunne, Jenny Agutter, John Woodvine and Don McKillop. It runs 97 minutes and is rated R due to sex/nudity, violence and gore, language and frightening/intense scenes.
