Just You Wait Review
Private Detective David Randall was curious about the disappearance of an elderly woman connected with the Parkland Little Theater. Viola Mitchell mysteriously disappeared and so far the police had few clues.
David approached Jordon Findley at the Parkland Police Department to see if he could help in any way. After all, Viola was well known as a character actress and often performed at Parkland. David’s friend Camden occasionally acted in some plays, and Kary, David’s girlfriend, was playing in the orchestra.
David, Camden, and Kary worked together on previous cases, and since the police department wasn’t making much headway, David thought they could help. After a resounding no from Finley, he decided to continue following the case out of curiosity.
Camden was a psychic and told Finley where he believed Viola’s body was. When the body was found, Findley allowed Camden to go undercover at the theater to see if they could catch the murderer.
In the meantime, David picked up a new client, Folly Harper, owner of BeautiQueen Cosmetics who was searching for her partner who had disappeared. He was also chasing shoplifters who were stealing pharmaceuticals from a local druggist (packs of vitamins and bottles of mineral oil), and helping a jazz musician court his woman although David wasn’t taking care of his own gal.
Just You Wait is the fourth Grace Street Mystery by Jane Tesh. She also authors the Madeline Maclin Mysteries series, currently at four novels.
Her stories are riveting, fast-paced, and fun to read. While the stories often cover serious topics, there are plenty of opportunities to smile, or even laugh out loud.
The characters are unique in their own way, yet they blend well in the overall theme of the story. Tesh does a great job in keeping track of the many people in her stories, making sure they are in the right place at the right time.
Readers will enjoy seeing their favorites again, while also meeting a number of new characters. Tesh has the ability to blend her people into the unique fabric of a southern town allowing the reader to feel like they are part of the neighborhood.
