Double Strike Review
Davis Way is preparing for her upcoming wedding to Bradley Cole when their plans hit more than one snag. Davis works at the Bellissimo Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi as a part of the security detail. Just before her wedding, the lightning protection system at the resort failed during an electrical storm sending bolts of lightning that started a fire at the casino.
Once Davis got to the casino, she found out her boss and his wife, Richard and Bianca Sanders, owners of the resort and casino were shut in the safe room due to the fire. Bianca ends up taking all of Davis’ clothes until she can get replacements
In the meantime, the new manager of the casino decides to hold a Strike it Rich sweepstakes that is so secret they have Davis and Fantasy go undercover to make sure there are no problems.
Unfortunately, a staff member is found dead, impaled in the lighting system at the bar. Davis is acting as an assistant to the Social Media Manager, Elspie, who is infamous for overusing #hashmarks whenever she sends a message.
When Brad goes to pick up their marriage license, he finds out she is still married to her ex-ex-husband. As crazy as everything seems at the moment, that’s just the beginning of what is going on in Davis’s life.
Double Strike, A Davis Way Crime Caper by Gretchen Archer is the third in a series that takes place a year after the previous book, Double Dip. A fourth novel, Double Mint, is releasing soon. The popular humorous cozy mystery is based in Biloxi, Mississippi with ties to Davis’s home town of Pine Apple, Alabama. The southern-style humor shines throughout the series.
Fast-paced plot with numerous twists and believable characters will keep readers turning pages long into the night.
While the more serious reader may not enjoy the sometimes silliness of the story, fans of such comedic authors as Janet Evanovich with her main character Stephanie Plum will appreciate the humor.
