This design is worked with only one shuttle. However, if you leave a very long tail, it can be used to create a split ring for ease of climbing out from the round center ring.
Center ring: R of 7 picots separated by 2 double stitches (ds). Create 8th picot as a mock picot and use the tail thread to tat the only split ring.

RD Smaller ring 2 + (join to RB) 2 - 2 - 2 clr rw
Continue for length desired for collar.
Please refer frequently to the model and diagram for the proper spacing of the bare thread and joins. Since the work does reverse often, please consider using the reverse order double stitch (RODS) so that all rings will be front side up.
