Boston newspaper reporter Jane Ryland was contacted by a former co-worker who had been fired because of inappropriate fraternization with a source, which as a major no-no in the publication business. In fact, Jane was reluctant to take her call, but finally gave in and ended up with the story of her life.

Tucker Cameron was looking for her birth mother for a number of years to no avail. Then, out of the blue, Brannigan Family and Children Services called to tell her they had found her birth mother. As Jane worked to find out the truth about Tuck’s adoption, and Jake sorted through clues to find out who the murder victim was and what happened to the young child, the underground couple realized they were both headed the same direction, to the Brannigan to find out what in the world was happening at the respected adoption agency.
