Scott Pocket Stamp Catalog
If you are a budding stamp collector or one who has been away from collecting for a while, the Scott publishing Company has a new catalog out you may be interested in. Scott Publishing Company is well known for the stamp catalogs they print that are the premier reference works on stamps and their values.
The new edition is titled “2015 Scott United States Pocket Stamp Catalogue.” This edition features more simplified listings that present the basics for a given stamp in question: Scott number, denomination, description, design type, color, color of stamp paper, unused value and used value.
The information contained in this pocket catalog is a more condensed version of what is found in Vol. 1 of the Scott standard catalog. Illustrations are provided for most U.S. stamps issued since the advent of the first U.S. postage stamp in 1847.
One issue you will have to deal with this pocket catalog is that in cases where two or more Scott numbers share a common design, the illustration provided will only show the first Scott number that shows that stamp’s design. Under most circumstances this will apply to definitive or regular-issue stamps. All commemorative stamps are pictured in the pocket catalog. Issues with multiple designs are shown a full panes.
