Slither
Wheelsy is a quiet, peaceful town that turns to chaos when a meteorite crashes and turns an unsuspecting Grant into a deadly alien. With the help of some slithery creatures, the town’s citizens are slowly being turned into acid-spitting zombies. It’s up to a small group of townspeople, including Bill, the town’s sheriff, Starla, Kylie and Jack, the town’s mayor, to thwart the alien’s plans. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Slither”.
∙ When Grant goes to the bar there is a woman singing “The Crying Game”. In the rear view of the woman (where the audience can be seen), Grant can be seen sitting at a table. The table in front of him, near the stage, is clear and the table to his right has three people sitting at it. But, when the camera switches angles to Grant’s viewpoint, there is now a man sitting at the table in front of the stage with peanut shells covering it. A few seconds later, when Brenda approaches, the people at the table are suddenly gone.
∙ Grant is in the basement with the bag of leaves. He is shown dumping the leaves and throwing the bag to his right. In the far view, when Grant starts to roll in the leaves, the bag is gone. It then switches to a close-up of Grant in the leaves and then back to the far view. The bag is now on the floor next to the pile of leaves.
∙ Starla tries calling Bill and Wally after finding out what was in the basement. Grant appears and they start to fight. At one point, Grant hits Starla and she falls, knocking over a nearby table. When the table falls, the top part lands near Starla. It’s near Starla’s left arm in the front view of her when she tries to reach the phone. But it’s missing during the rest of the scene when Bill and Wally arrive.
∙ When Kylie is first shown in the bathtub (where she turns the water faucet with her foot), the overhead view shows the curtains to her left are closed. But in the next view, when she’s talking to her mom, the curtains are open.
∙ After being attacked in the bathroom, Kylie tries to get into Emily and Jenna’s room. She tries to open the door but it’s locked. When Kylie goes to get the statuette to break the door down, there is a wide view showing the door. It’s white with no marks on it. But in the next close-up of the door, when Kylie has the statue, there are red blood prints on it.
∙ Bill and Kylie are in the police car when it’s being attacked by the zombies. One zombie spews acid on the driver’s window and then smears it. But when Bill picks up Starla and Jack, there is no trace of the spew on the window.
“Slither” (2006) stars Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, Elizabeth Banks, Gregg Henry and Tania Saulnier. It runs 95 minutes and is rated R for strong horror violence and gore, and language.
