Auto Paint Technology
Sometimes when I am working on a vehicle and it has oxidation, fading, scratches, swirl marks etc., I want to do the best thing I can for that particular problem--deter it from advancing--sort of heal the finish. I have recently been contacted by the very people who test and do that very research on automotive paint and trim. I have read several articles on their website and I have learned more than I thought I would. For instance, if you have a small spot on your hood, roof or trunk that is about the size of a dime to a quarter and it has little pits in it--I found that likely to be related to bird droppings. I mean, I knew that bird droppings could be dangerous for our finishes, but I have never associated the marks with pits. When I spot droppings on my vehicles, I usually spray on some detailing mist, let soak for half a minute a gently wipe off with a clean soft towel, then I polish it with more mist. Turtle Wax Platinum Series Detailing Mist has always been my choice for that job. That is just ONE of the facts I learned and I'm glad I did! Check them out and see if they can give you the expert knowledge you need in diagnosing a particular problem you may have.
