Spanish Language Tatting Book Reviews
Until just last week, my knowledge of tatting books, instructional or pattern collections, printed originally in the Spanish language was limited to five books still in print, 2 books seen only online and one vintage booklet whose cover is all that I have ever seen. But a recent email from Karen Cabrera expanded my horizon with ten more Spanish language tatting books.
Frivolité; Realce #426......................Centro de prod de Ediciones Realce Amelber(Spanish)
Realce's book #426 of tatting patterns has 16 pages of full color and a 16 page black and white insert with the directions in Spanish and clearly numbered diagrams. There are 15 projects with multiple design elements for edgings, doilies, sachets, window treatments plus smaller motifs adaptable to many linens. The designs are all in traditional tatting style.
I was most fascinated with the variation of a old-fashioned fan pattern with a floral design. Very striking! This magazine style booklet is 8.5" x 11" with a paper cover. The tatting patterns with the exception of the floral fan and the Madonna portrait in tatting require only basic tatting skills and are easily adaptable to either shuttle or needle tatting methods.
Unfortunately, I have never seen the antique Spanish tatting book, "Album de Frivolité."
The following information about the Spanish language tatting books is shared with us by Karen Cabrera. Please visit her blog for Spanish language tatting tutorials: https://entrelanzaderas.blogspot.com/2010/10/clases-de-frivolite-tatting-lessons.html
