Hosting a Gender Reveal Baby Shower
In order to succeed with this baby shower theme, expecting mothers instruct their doctor not to reveal the baby's gender. Instead, the mom to be asks her doctor to write it on a piece of paper, and drop it into an envelope which she seals and passes along to the shower hostess. The hardest part is keeping the gender a secret until the big reveal!
Guess who, Pink or Blue? Invites
Set a date and time for the shower, that works for the mother to be. After establishing a guest list, choose adorable invites that make it clear this is no ordinary baby shower! It’s fun to use an owl themed design with a “guess who” message. Choose to experiment with a DIY design tool, or stop by your local party supply store and work with a customizing specialist to design invites. Make sure to deliver invites at least a week in advance to allow shower guests time to RSVP.
Team Pink or Blue?
Fill giant plastic baby bottles (found at a party store) with adorable It's a Boy and It's a Girl buttons, and prompt guests to choose a team and wear a color when they arrive. Purchase pink lemonade and blue punch and serve in pink and blue flutes. Is the grandma to be positive it's a girl from the shape of the baby bump? She can show off her vote by wearing an It's a Girl button and sipping pink lemonade from a pink flute!
Make Games More Fun with Pink and Blue Teams
Since it's a Gender Reveal party, you can make your baby shower games even more fun, by having everyone take sides on Pink and Blue teams. Stir up the competitive spirit by providing "team colors". Offer plenty of pink and blue ribbons, tiaras, mustaches and leis to go around. Choose baby shower games that allow guests to compete in teams and have fun!
The Big Reveal: Cut the Cake to Reveal Pink or Blue
Will it be a handsome little he or a pretty little she? The hostess arranges for a cake that's gender neutral on the outside, but has either pink or blue frosting on the inside, thus revealing the baby's gender with the very first slice! Get ready for squeals of joy when you cut into the cake and reveal girl or boy! Have cameras and confetti handy to celebrate the big moment, you can even stream it live online for distant loved ones!
Savor the surprise of learning baby’s gender with friends and family by announcing baby's gender at a gender reveal shower! Imagine cutting into a cake with a colorful pink or blue surprise inside. Or filling up a giant box with balloons, and seeing which color floats out. What a fun and creative baby shower idea!
