Pop Treats from Perry, James, Franti & Spearhead
It’s that time again…it’s time for a musical snack consisting of some of pop’s yummiest tunes. Last week I brought you three awesome songs worth downloading, and this week I’m doing it again with three new ‘must have’ songs that will keep your iPod happy all week long. These songs will make you feel like you’re “Waking Up in Vegas” feeling “Wanted” wishing that Elvis would just say “Say Hey (I Love You)”. Enjoy!
Michael Franti & Spearhead – “Say Hey (I Love You)”
You know how once in a while you stumble across a song that makes you feel good? Well “Say Hey (I Love You)” from Michael Franti & Spearhead is one of those songs. This song boasts a happy vibe that makes you wish you were singing along while rocking some old school roller skates on a beach boardwalk. “Say Hey (I Love You)” is the quintessential song for your summertime soundtrack.
Tasty Fun Fact: Craig Ferguson recently opened The Late Late Show with “Say Hey (I Love You)”. Check it out on YouTube!

Jessie James - "Wanted"
Did someone say road trip? Listen closely; it’s Jessie James’ “Wanted” – the type of song that just begs to be taken out on the open road. This hot ‘bob your head’ tune features powerful vocals, catchy lyrics, and a bit of a pop/country crossover vibe. So throw on some comfortable jeans and a tee, grab a cup of coffee and your best friend, and hop in the car. Hit the road on a mission to find the best truck stop cheese fries while singing along with “Wanted” at the top of your lungs — pink tutu and cowboy boots are awesome but optional.
Tasty Fun Fact: "Wanted" was co-written by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi alongside Jessie James, Mitch Allan, and David Hodges. The song is the first single from her self-titled debut album.

Katy Perry – “Waking Up In Vegas”
It never fails; Katy Perry always manages to give pop music fans a million reasons to love her with each new song, and “Waking Up In Vegas” certainly isn’t an exception. “Waking Up In Vegas” is an all around deliciously fun, colorful, and addicting song. This song makes it hard to not smile, giggle, or feel happy. It’s the type of song that you can take anywhere and rock out to in almost any situation – albeit some situations are more appropriate than others, but if you don’t mind the funny looks then go for it. Do a little dance while folding laundry or sing along during impromptu poolside karaoke (yes, a kiddie pool counts). You could even opt for the really cliché (but oh so fun) by putting on a feather boa, blasting “Waking Up In Vegas” on your iPod, and booty shaking your way down the Las Vegas strip with your friends. (If you do opt for the cliché please know that I expect photos.)
Tasty Fun Fact: The music video for “Waking Up In Vegas” features cameo appearances by the Maloof brothers (owners of the Palms Hotel) and Vegas showmen Penn & Teller. The video was directed by Joseph Kahn. You can check it out for yourself on YouTube.
