Kenny Chesney - CMA Entertainer of the Year 2004
No one could have been more shocked to hear his name than Kenny Chesney at the 38th Annual Country Music Awards. Nominated into a group of superstars that included Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and Tim McGraw it marks a high point in a career that officially started in 1991.
Kenny was born in 1968 in Knoxville, TN and was raised in Luttrell, he attended college at East Tennessee State. He graduated with a degree in advertising, but a month after graduation, he headed to Nashville to try his luck at a recording career. Kenny is no over night sensation, his first contract for was songwriting and the first label that signed him as a recording artist closed the doors in Nashville after his first album was released. Luckily someone at RCA noticed his talent and signed him to a contract and the rest as they say is history. Each CD Kenny has released has done better than it’s predecessor, leading up to the smash hits No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems and When the Sun Goes Down. The release of these two CDs has put Kenny into the ranks of superstardom.
Even the 2000 incident the included a police officers horse and Tim McGraw hasn’t slowed this guy down. The publicity did nothing but good things for his career, if nothing else it got his name out there to the public and made people wonder who he was. That same year, Kenny and his fiancé broke off their engagement and he worked thru the pain writing songs and putting his energy into his career. Most of the songs on his No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems CD are full of heartbreak and broken relationships. When he went back the studio to record When the Sun Goes Down he was in a better place and the CD shows it, the songs are for the most part fun and he seems to be enjoying himself. Although he is dating someone, he isn’t letting anyone in on who she is and says he has no plans to get married in the near future. Guess there is still hope for those single girls out there..LOL!
