Library Sciences Newsletter Sign-up
Welcome to the Library Sciences Newsletter! Thank you for your interest and for signing up to receive the most current news in the library field. The face of librarianship is rapidly changing. No longer the gatekeepers of information, we are now the guides to it. The burgeoning technological advances and devices keep even the most tech saavy librarian hopping on a daily basis.
There are many who would say that libraries are a thing of the past, but there is much more to libraries than the books on their shelves. Libraries are often homes to DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, downloadable content, free databases and more. Depending on the type of library the resources can be even more specialized.
We will delve into classic topics and those not so conventional, such as bibliotherapy, in our forays into the library world. Who says library work is boring?
Not a librarian yet but thinking about a new career or your first one? This site will also discuss the plethora of online degree programs and brick and mortar ones. Are you ready for the online learning experience or would an in-classroom experience be better? Which programs are best for you? Sign up and find out.
Library jobs are difficult if not impossible to find for new graduates with little or no experience. But there are ways around that catch-22. Library Sciences will profile different types of volunteer experiences and the value of internships in lieu of paid employment as a way to get your proverbial foot in the door.
As time goes on, I am adding additional content to the site. Stay tuned and find out what's next and new in this exciting field! Even if you are not a librarian or planning to become one - this site is useful for the book reviews, author discussions, and technology hints that they contain.
I sure hope you'll join me here at the Library Sciences site at BellaOnline.com. I have much planned for the site and would love to hear your feedback about topics you would like to see covered, questions you may have about content that is on the site, and anything else you would like to talk about!
