Michelob Light Low Carb Beer
Michelob Light is a popular beer, known for its rich flavor. While it might call itself light, it has 8.9g of carbs and 122 calories per 12 ounces of beer.
Note that this is actually better than it used to be! When Michelob Light first came out, it clocked in at a whopping 11.7g of carbs and 133 calories per serving. It's not that they lowered the alcohol levels, either, which is how beer groups sometimes work on their calorie levels. The alcohol value for Michelob Light has remained constant at 4.3%.
This has a reasonably full flavor, in the lager category, and it has full bubbles, rather than the tiny, fizzy bubbles you often find in light beers. So it's more like a beer and less like a Sprite.
But there's a reason for that.
In essence this is a "normal" beer. The normal Michelob beer has 13.0g carbs and 155 calories. So you're barely saving a few grams carbs by downgrading. Yes, the flavor is richer than other light beers - but that's for a reason :). If you drink this, you're in essence just drinking normal beer.
So it comes down to where you are in your low carb dieting. For many of us on maintenance, we can easily afford these carb levels as part of a normal day. You might vastly prefer to enjoy one of these beers rather than a piece of carrot cake, for example. But for others who are actively trying to lose weight, they might want to avoid this for now and go with the lower carb / lower calorie options.
