Easy Mother's Day Rose Gifts
Mother’s Day is almost here. If your mother or wife is an avid rose gardener, they’ll always enjoy a rose themed gift. I’ve covered three easy to locate gift ideas that even the most finicky rose growing mother will enjoy.
If you don’t have a rose gardening implement in mind for mom, how about a rose scented fragrance or lotion? Most women enjoy perfume or bath products. My two favorites have a realistic rose fragrance while also offering the option to purchase fragrance spray, lotion or bubble bath. L’Occitane’s fresh rose scent, “Eau de 4 Reines,” is offered as a fragrance, lotion, bubble bath, hand cream and a shower gel. Stella McCartney’s rose and amber fragrance “Stella” is also a lovely and realistic rose scented perfume choice. This product comes as a fragrance, lotion and body cream. “Eau de 4 Reines” can be found at www.loccitane.com, and “Stella” can be found at both www.sephora.com and also Nordstrom’s stores.
If your mom isn’t a perfume fanatic perhaps she could use a gardening manual for rose gardening tips and advice. In my journey to become a better rose gardener, I’ve enjoyed the “Southern Living Garden Book.” This book covers just about any type of plant that can be grown south of Pennsylvania. For rose specific gardening information and advice “All About Roses,” from the Ortho plant series, is immensely helpful. Both books cover plant and rose growing techniques with “All About Roses” covering roses the most in depth, but the “Southern Living Garden Book” covering roses as well as all other plants. Either book would be an excellent addition to your mom’s gardening library. Both books can be found at either www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com
A final choice, and one that every rose gardener can use more of, is a great pair of gardening gloves. Serious gardeners have a tendency to go through gloves fairly quickly. An additional pair is always a welcome gift. Rose gardeners have very particular needs with gloves. You need to be able to perform delicate tasks with your gloves on, but also be protected from harsh thorns. Goat skin is an excellent material choice for rose gardening gloves since it allows for a lot of dexterity, but also is thick enough to prevent thorns from puncturing through the glove material. You’ll want to ensure you get gloves that are the right size for a woman. Choosing a medium will probably cover moms with tiny and slightly larger hands. Goat skin gloves can be found at many garden supply stores, but Rose Mania and Taylor’s Do It centers both offer smaller sizes for woman. These can be found at www.rosemania.com and www.taylorsdoit.com
Selecting a Mother’s Day gift for mom doesn’t have to be difficult if she’s a rose gardener. When it comes to gift giving it’s still the thought that counts. Mom would always appreciate a less expensive present, but one that shows her you took her hobbies and interests into account.
