Oh my Bra!

Guest Author - Tamira Williams

A brassiere can make you look great but the entire time make you feel like crap. Why? Well the top reason is over 70% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. Finding the right bra can be like searching for the “goose that laid the golden egg” but once it’s found it will work for your wardrobe when all else fails shaping, lifting and creating cleavage while still allowing you to be comfortable. So if you’re tired of racing home to free your self from the cruel bonds of your bra, here are a few tips to get you and your bra to become friends.

1. Find your size! Many of us avoid wearing things that actually fit us, small shoes, a smaller size in pants and bras seem to be no different and because women tend to put things on the back burner while caring for others we don’t always have or make time for things that would benefit us personally. Well, now is the time to head out to your favorite department store and be measured by a professional fitter for the bra of your dreams. Over time the size, texture and shape of your breast tissue changes, so it’s necessary to get fitted every 6 months to a year. This is a great time frame since the average bra last for about that long anyway.

2. Fit is very important and so is comfort. Make sure you try on several sizes from several bra makers since bra sizing is not standardized and can vary from one bra maker to another. What one bra maker may call a B could be a C with another. Take your time and notice everything about the bra you’ve chosen to try on. Are the straps sitting straight and flat with no digging or sliding? If you’re bra straps happen to be pinching it’s a sign that you may need a more supportive bra or possibly a bra with wider more padded straps. When it comes to the cup size of a bra you breast must fit into the cups comfortably and completely. Wrinkled cup fabric means the bra is too big or maybe you need less coverage. Spillage of any kind means you need a larger cup size with possibly more coverage.

3. Do you know what to where under there? If you have on a tank top, sun dress or a spaghetti strapped dress you need a strapless bra or at the very least a bra with clear straps. If you find that perfect sheer or backless dress try to find an adhesive bra but for those who are a D cup or larger you would have to try a bra converter which attaches to the bra hooks and wraps around the body and helps to make up for the loss of support by resting on the lower torso. Lastly if you choose a dress with a plunging neckline your can try a bra tape to help lift your breast and boost your confidence.

Once you have found your bra size and that special bra that is both fashionable and functional just remember that what you wear beneath will affect what you display on top. Also don't be afraid to buy your favorite bra's online there are some great online retailers that offer fit, fashion and fuction. My favorite would have to be barenecessities.com, the styles are awsome and the quality is exactly the same as my favorite department store.

Always keep it simple and sexy.
