Low Carb Salad Dressings
I have reviewed many low carb salad dressings - the stores are full of them! Just what makes a salad dressing low carb? The real question is - why do so many salad dressings have sugar in them??
Salads are healthy for you. Why would you drizzle a sugar syrup over your salad? It makes no sense at all to me. I think it's because every single food maker out there - from ketchup to salad dressing to peanut butter - has added TONS of sugar to their products over the years. We don't even notice it any more. It's a pretty sad commentary on our culture, that we have to ask for condiments without a boatload of sugar dumped into them.
So, salad dressing. If you don't want to just buy a pre-made low carb salad dressing, you have options.
First, oil and vinegar! Olive Oil of course is really healthy for you. It's a critical part of healthy living. Vinegar is "old wine" :) We know that wine is good for us! If you have red wine vinegar plus olive oil, you have zero carbs and a delicious topping for your salad.
OK, how about Italian dressing? Do you know what that is? It's simply oil, vinegar, and a few spices. Toss in a few pieces of celery, olives, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. It's still pretty much zero carbs, and the celery bits give you fiber. The garlic gives you the great garlic benefits.
I personally love ranch, but it's a pain to make. There are many low carb ranches on the market so I'd just buy that ready-made if I were you :)
In any case, eat a salad every day! Salads fill you up, are full of nutrition, and help you lose weight!
