Marcy Walker Leaving AMC - Fact or Fiction

Guest Author - Cheryl Lewis

Marcy Walker, Liza Colby, All My Children

Oh no, say it aint so! The rumor mill is absolutely abuzz about whether or not Marcy Walker, who plays conniving Liza Colby, is really leaving All My Children. The story has appeared in both Soap Opera Weekly and TV Guide in addition to several places on the Web.

Marcy Walker originated the role of Liza Colby in 1981 and continued to play the role for three years until she left the show in 1984. During those years away from All My Children she snagged three Daytime Emmy nominations and then scored big with an Outstanding Lead Actress award in 1989 with her role as Eden Capwell Castillo, on NBC's Santa Barbara. After the cancellation of Santa Barbara she followed up with a role on Guiding Light as Tangie Hill for a couple of years.

The ever-conniving Liza Colby was returned to All My Children in 1995 and has twisted and turned and provided AMC with some memorable front line story plots. Those story lines usually included ever-the-bad-man Adam Chandler, played by David Canary.

The rumors of Walker's leaving All My Children started flying after confirmation from AMC that Mia Saunders, played by Amelia Heinle, Liza'z on-screen half-sister was being written out of the show. The character of Liza has certainly been seen less and less on All My Children in recent weeks and hasn't taken front row to the story plot in quite a while.

An All My Children spokesperson reports that it is their policy not to discuss the contract status of their actors and actresses. That, unfortunately, leaves the fans only to wait and see what scoots out of the shadows of the woodwork.
