Pawleys Plantation, South Carolina

Guest Author - Shannon Hurst Lane

Pawleys Plantation is a 582 acre resort and golf course community located in Pawleys Island, SC. Bordered by a 600 acre nature preserve, Pawleys Plantation offers a romantic resort destination within a secluded, unspoiled community.

Guests of Pawleys Plantation enjoy first-class amenities in a casually elegant Lowcountry style for relaxation. It’s an ideal location for a romantic retreat. A daily breakfast buffet is served in the Antebellum-style clubhouse overlooking the spacious veranda with a panoramic view of a lake, the Pawleys Island marsh and the finishing hole of its Jack Nicklaus signature golf course.

Guests of Pawleys Plantation stay in villas featuring wet bars, ceramic tile baths, and master baths with whirlpool tubs. All villas come with fully equipped kitchens and overlook the award winning golf course.

This secluded retreat is also home to The Phil Ritson-Mel Sole Golf School, which can customize a program to suit your needs.

Bird watching is a fitting activity for this resort. Birds commonly seen in Pawleys Plantation include Ospreys, Snowy and Great Egrets, Least Bitterns, Cormorants, Anhingas, Great White and Great Blue Herons, Mockingbirds, and Pileated and Red-headed Woodpeckers.

The Wood Stork, which most commonly breeds in Florida, is the only stork in North America. Six pairs have been spotted at Pawleys Plantation.

Other wildlife that can be observed include: white-tail deer, red fox, raccoons, and alligators. Be careful around hole No. 18 on the golf course. It is home to an 11-foot alligator.

Whether you are planning your “BabyMoon” with Stork Watching or just a romantic weekend getaway of golf, Pawleys Plantation can be a great choice. For more information about Villa Reservations and Golf Packages, please call 1-800-367-9959.
