Halo Chocolate Chip Crispy Cookies
Halo has come out with protein chocolate chip cookies, with 1g net carbs per cookie. We tested these out several times ... but they're a bit TOO crispy.
First off, you only get 8 cookies in a box, and that's a single serving. They are only the size of quarters, maybe. Maybe slightly larger than quarters. I completely understand selling single-serving containers - but you don't sell a bag of chips that has only 8 chips in it. They should either formulate the cookies so you get more cookies to eat, or have a container with more cookies. The packaging for 8 cookies in a serving probably costs as much as the cookies themselves do.
Next, they call the cookies crispy. We found them to be more 'burnt' tasting - as if you tried to cook cookies too long and they got dried out and slightly ashy flavored. There just wasn't any moistness or flavor in them.
I normally like crispy cookies and I love chocolate chip cookies. I really wanted these to work. But we found ourselves forcing ourselves to eat them under different situations to try to find one that made them tasty. We just weren't successful.
Maybe future formulations will remove that 'dried / burnt' aspect, but they're not there yet.
