Wedding Invitation Etiquette
A little fuzzy on when and how to send wedding invitations? Have no idea what a 'save-the-date' card is? Well look no further! Save the date cards
-Save the date cards, while not necessary, are a great way to create excite about your upcoming nuptials. Cards should be sent three to four months in advance, ahead of the wedding invitation to alert guests of your wedding date. Frugal brides need not worry about sending this type of announcement to all guests, but it would be wise to send them to anyone who will need to travel for the wedding.

-Wedding invitations should be sent 2 months before the event; close enough so guests will not forget, but also give them enough time to prepare.
-When you start to plan your wedding invitations, you must consider several factors that will go into the overall design of the card:
-the type of wedding you plan on having (more casual, black tie, etc)
-budget
-color scheme
-enclosures (see below)
Enclosures
-Most wedding invitations are more than just a card telling the date/time/location of your wedding. Beyond that, there are several additions to the invite that need to be addressed:
-Response cards: pre-printed cards that allow the guests to respond whether they will be attending and also include notes on food preferences, or special messages. RSVP cards should always include their own envelope for easy return back to you.
- Reception cards: This type of card is only needed if the reception for the wedding is located somewhere other than the wedding site. Often this card will include the time (and date if other than wedding day) of the reception and also the location, with directions from the wedding site, or a map.
- Direction Card: a map or turn-by-turn directions from a central location to the wedding site. Mostly included in invitations for traveling guests.
Thank you notes:
-Thank you notes should be preprinted in the style of your wedding invitations and provide a blank inner area to write special messages to wedding attendees and also thank them for any wedding gifts personally.
