Tarot Aspects for Today
Moon in Pisces
During this transit, we are all attracted to whatever appeals to our emotions and feelings - in music, literature or poetry. Emotion is a major factor in all our activities. We will tend to be more changeble, sometimes undependable, too easily discouraged when we are confronted with trouble, opposition or obstacles. We all love variety and are apt to change our mind about things frequently. Yet, we will also be rather easygoing, and some will become somewhat shy and retiring during this transit. We may be outwardly gay and hopeful, with a seemingly good sense of humour, yet some are prone to become easily depressed or melancholic. Some may lapse into bouts of intemperance, dissipation and even dishonesty. Some will tap their flair for music, composing or writing. Whatever you do, this is a time to be emotional and romantic; and to allow your creative output to be fluid, prodigious and imaginative. This can be one of the most appealing and entertaining Moon positions, as long as rationality and concreteness are not important. The Tarot card that resonates to this emotional phase is the Knight of Cups which represents sensitive, idealistic and romantic energy as well as great originality and inventiveness but a passive nature and flights of fancy which can distract us from our goals. This card also speaks of new opportunities, especially emotional and creative ones.Sun Conjunct Venus
The Sun and Venus are now in almost exact conjunction with the Sun orbiting at 18 degrees Gemini and Venus moving slowly backwards to 17 degrees Gemini. This is a very powerful placement which also signals an unprecedented planetary transit where Venus will visibly cross in front of the Sun. Yestersay, an amazing cosmic event occurred - an eclipse of Venus. This sort of shadow crossing has not been visible from Earth since 1882. For those of you who did not see it, it will be more visible in the Americas when Venus repeats her transit, June 6, 2012. Some astrologers call this eight year period between visible transits, a "Golden Period." Our New Age Host, Janet Boyer has written an entire feature on this event: read it at Venus Transit - June 8, 2004 . This energy couples our ego and consciousness with the refined feminine energy of Venus. This shift in consciousness will bring new ideas, and change in the way our human civilizations are governed and develop. Women will be more prominent in the news, and there will be a focus on heart-to-heart communication on global, societal and personal levels. Give and take will be important in all relationships, and we will be more open to listen and reflect before replying in conversations and negotiations. Positive yin traits of harmony, beauty, sociability, and co-operation will be more predominant over the next eight years. Because Venus is opposite Pluto now (and both are retrograde,..see below for more detail) this feminine energy helps to transmute any negative yang energy that has led to world crises and societal trends that do not respect the sanctity of humanity, family, and so on. In fact, many people are uniting to help to catalyze more refined, peaceful energy on our planet. "The Global Oneness Commitment is an eight-year project with the goal of uniting people around the globe to mutual actions in order to not only save what we have, but to transform the planet thru an increase in spiritual awareness - a new consciousness creating a joyful home for all its inhabitants and sincere respect for all forms of life. The project is synchronised with the twin Venus Transits of 2004 and 2012. It starts with the first Venus transit of June 8th 2004 and ends with the second Transit June 6th 2012. The eight-year project is initiated by the Global Oneness Foundation based in Stockholm, Sweden, in association with the Times Foundation based in Delhi, India." The tarot energy that resonates to this transit is the Queen of Cups bringer of sensitive, receptive, affectionate, mature feminine energy and strong intuition and inner perceptiveness. She encourages both men and women to get in touch with their yin or inner female nature.Mercury in Gemini
Mercury is now in one of its most positive, "home" bases - Gemini. Mercury is exalted in both Gemini and Virgo, since it rules both of these signs of the zodiac. In Gemini, people will tend to travel a lot more and also engaging in more studying and reading. This is a great time to change from one profession or occupation to another, or situate yourself for doing two things at once. We will all be very open to acquiring knowledge of any kind. This transit brings an more inventive, ingenious, fast, "on the trigger", clever, and resourceful sort of mentality. Generally we will tend to be generous and magnanimous, full of good humour and sympathy; and we will be less biased in our attitude toward other people and places. This energy urges us to accept things as they are, and to experience life in an open, relaxed, dialogue-rich sort of way. The Tarot card that reflects this energy is the Knight of Coins, who brings stable energy of dependability, persistence, patience, responsibility and trustworthiness. He also signals positive news regarding money, travel and business, including promotions and new opportunities.Neptune Trine Sun
Neptune now sits at 15 degrees Aquarius while the Sun rests at 18 degrees Gemini - this puts these two celestial bodies in an almost exact Trine to one another. Trines generally indicate harmony between the energies of two interacting planets or solar bodies. This aspect brings energy related to fusing the individual ego with the transpersonal dimensional self. Creative talents emerge during this transit, even ones you may have not tapped, that lie dormant. If you can find the discipline to stay focused with this emergence, you can cultivate these talents to amazing heights. Lots of ideas and eurekas will spring from our minds during this positive transit, but we need to apply concentration to be able to hold onto and harness these fleeting bits of genius. Our minds will be more perceptive, capable of good assimilation and understanding with sound intuition and a potentially strong source of insight and knowledge. Psychic faculties will work with our emotions, especially if we are prone to express higher order, positive emotions such as empathy and compassion. This may be a little tricky though, since many will be prone to ambivalency, and to shrink from social involvement and responsibility. The evolved will find themselves opening their heart wide and feeling a genuine channel for universal love which spurs them to support and uplift others. The Tarot card that reflects this energy is the Three of Cups which signal abundance within and without, helping us to feel secure and fulfilled. It also heralds the start of a creative new period, where some will create masterpieces, others will celebrate the completion of projects they have been working on, and still others will engage in the most intimate creation of all, the birth of a new child.Jupiter Sextile Saturn
Jupiter and Saturn are now almost 60 degrees apart putting them in Sextile to one another. This interaction adds the energy of readily available information and heightened comprehension. You will find the knowledge that you seek more easily, and know what to do with it, even if it seems useless to others. During this transit, it is easier to plan events, and our creative ideas will flow more freely. Enthusiasm and optimism grow during this aspect, it will be easier to believe in yourself yet in a grounded way: we will acknowledge that it takes hard work to accomplish our cherished goals. We will look for new avenues of expression, and be more determined to grow to our highest potential. Ethics will be high: most of us will not be happy if we resort to manipulative tactics to advance ourselves. Honesty and sincerity are the keys to succeeding now. The tarot card that reflects this positive aspect is the Nine of Cups which heralds a period of well-being, contentment and happiness, one in which a range of personal wishes can manifest. Creativity is favored at this time, and past efforts will now reap rewards as projects move towards a satisfactory conclusion. We all have much to enjoy and we will wish to share it with those who are less fortunate.Venus Opposite Pluto
Oppositions occur when planets are close to 180 degrees apart in the zodiac. Venus and Pluto are in almost exact opposition. Venus is slowly moving backward at 17 degrees in Gemini while Pluto is also moving backward at 20 degrees Sagittarius. When planets are in opposition, their energies conflict and can cause restrictions and boundaries. Romantic and sexual problems can occur during this aspect, which are often due to uncontrolled passions and psychological inhibitions that prevent positive sexual expression. You may engage in looking for the ideal love and career yet will need to learn to compromise while keeping high standards for yourself. You may try to remake your spouse rather than try to reform yourself. Or, you may be more dictatorial to your spouse and vice versa. Jealousy and possessiveness will be heightened. You may also attract undesirable associates and some may be involved in the criminal use of sex. This aspect can distort your will and your power to regenerate. Watch out for problems with taxes, joint finances, inheritances, etc., often due to chancy over-investment. Hidden debts and unethical financial practices will be revealed and all-consuming - keep your check book balanced! The tarot card that matches this aspect is the Reversed Two of Cups. Quarrels and misunderstandings between couples are highlighted, possibly leading to the end of the relationship if both parties aren't cognizant of what is happening. We all must guard against rash actions and hasty decisions, and avoid underhanded behaviors.Sun in Gemini:
For the next 13 days or so, the Sun Sign will be in Gemini which brings a livelier air to our lives: our energy begins to quicken. This is the cycle for natural communication, with a never-ending thirst for knowledge. Gemini cycles bring out the student in us all. The prevailing energy is intelligent, pushing us to be always on the move, always trying to satisfy our mental curiosity. This is a good time for picking out what is salient in a situation, acquiring knowledge easily, and sharing it with others. The nuance of Gemini is bright, bringing out our multi-talents and enthusiasm, but we must guard against scattering our energies in too many directions. The Tarot card that resonates to this new energy is the Knight of Wands, ushering in change but doing so with eloquence and charm. This Knight blesses us with energy that does make us change our minds swiftly, and sometimes, unpredictably but also gives us a sophisticated air that helps us to achieve our goals. Use this cycle to get up to date on your correspondence, to share "heart to hearts" with your significant others, and to write that best-seller! Plan long lunches and cozy fireside chats to fully express your heart and souls to those who matter most to you. This energy will prevail for the next thirty days, peaking around the end of June. The following three aspects will continue for several moons to come - Venus will be retrograde for most of the summer; Neptune and Pluto extend even longer. Notice how slowly they move each day - for instance, Neptune and Pluto have not moved at all since yesterday.Venus Retrograde in Gemini:
Venus is now resting in Mercury's sign, Gemini - a wonderful event if you are inclined to relax and enjoy the beauty of life. This is the perfect time to take stock of what is aesthetic and beautiful in your life: and to change what is not. Our spirits and hearts need beauty and refinement in order to express themselves fully. This is a good aspect for this: Art, Creation, Gardening, Magic and Self-Development are all favored if we can approach Venus' backwards movement with care and respect. She can help us discover what or who it is that we truly love,..and to sift through the "stuff" that makes our lives seem boring or even ugly. Venus correlates to the Goddess, Aphrodite who is exemplified in the Empress Tarot card of the Major Arcana. She brings artistic creativity, inspiration, feminine wisdom and caring, and a general sense of well-being.Neptune Retrograde in Aquarius:
When Neptune is retrograde it is time to build up your strength and resistance both physically and spiritually. It is the perfect time to engage in healthy and healing past times such as meditation, fitness activities, healing sessions, chakra work, being out in nature especially water, gardening, walking, visiting a spa, going on vacation to a relaxing secluded place and so on. A perfect time too to learn and practice Eastern philosophies and exercises or First Nations rituals. The Aquarian energy urges you to think of the future and of humanitarian causes. Neptune retrograde brings the danger of infections, allergy distress and being more susceptible to bacteria, viri and the like. Boost your immune system with vitamins, herbs, chakra work, homeopathy and such. Natural medicines work better now than traditional ones. Watch out for poisons and pesticides at this time. Remember you are responsible for your own health. Feed your body, your mind, your spirit with positive nutrients by eating well, thinking well and engaging in daily spiritual practices that bring you peace and harmony. The Tarot Number 1 Major Arcana card, the Magician, reminds us of Neptune retrograde, bringing new confidence, good communication, and skillful, intelligent self development energy. Your strength of will and ability to channel your energies into achieving desired results will ensure your success.Pluto Retrograde in Sagittarius:
Pluto is the planet of transformation, calling us to right our lives, to change what is unhealthy and unwholesome and begin to lead a clean and aesthetic life. One that involves charity and kindness and the ability to withstand the fires of purification and change. If you resist the change, you suffer. If you flow with the changes, you transform and rise like the phoenix, shining. It's as simple as that! Pluto will support and protect you when you accept the changes and move along without resistance. Or, if you resist, it will school you in the arena of hard knocks. You have no choice - you must change! You must transform! But do so not out of fear or coercion but out of maturity and willingness. Follow your intuition, be kind to all around you and help others around you go through their own transformation. The Sagittarian energy moves you to become fit, to travel, to add adventure and new experiences to your daily routine. The High Priestess, the Number 2 card of the Major Arcana, lends energy to this aspect: she urges us to make decisions with our heart rather than our heads; she affords wisdom, guidance and foresight; and brings good judgement and self-reliance. She also reveals that which is hidden, in our hearts and souls. Truly time for a holistic spring cleaning!
