Step 2. Save your animation for the web. You are now ready to save your animation in a format for the web. An animation is a special type of gif image file that has the images and other information compressed as much as possible. It is this compressed gif image file that you will put up on your website. The images in the animation will lose quality as the amount of compression increases and the file gets smaller. However a lower compression value will result in a better image quality but also a large image file. A large image file will take a long time to display on the webpage. When you are working with images for the web, you need to find a balance between the file size and the quality of the image. That's what you will do next.
On the Menubar click File > Save As to open the Save As dialog box. Name your animation "logo" and click Save. This will open the Animation Quality Versus Output Size dialog box. You will use the slider bar to set the amount of compression for your animation file. Let's set the slider bar one notch below the top and click Next. When the compression process is complete you can click the Next button again which will take you to the Optimization Preview dialog box. In this dialog box you will see the original image on the left and the compressed image on the right. If you don't like the quality of the compressed image, use the Back button and adjust the slider bar. When you are happy with the preview, click the Next button to view the Optimization Results dialog box.
In this box you will see the estimated time it will take for your image to display on your webpage. If the estimated download time is too large, you can use the Back button and make adjustments. When you are satisfied with the image quality and download time, click Finish and the program will generate your animation named logo.gif. You can now upload logo.gif onto your website. To place the image into your webpage you can use the HTML code below. <img src="logo.gif" border="0"> ← Back JascR material used by permission of Jasc Software, Inc.
