Mrs. Murphy's Media Center - A Review

Mrs. Murphy's Media Center - A Review

Check out this great computer program that assists in teaching students how to use the Library.

Sometimes you just need something to catch your patron's attention and help reinforce what you have taught about using the library. Sometimes you need something to help students new to your school or public library, somthing they can use independently. At these times I encourage you to take a stroll through Mrs. Murphy’s Media Center.

From Meridian Education you will find:
An enthusiastic and supportive professional who serves as instructor and guide providing brief lessons on locating and using the most common media center resources. Her CD media tour includes 26 short lessons on media center use and materials in 7 sections: check-out desk; catalog; stacks; references; periodicals; audiovisual room; and the work area.

The price may seem steep at $60, but you will use this program over and over. I use it with my 2-4 grade students. The lessons are short enough to add to any lesson or activity you may have planned. You can easily combine different lessons for a longer time period. The CD works on Windows or Mac. Mrs. Murphy is an excellent addition to your Library team.
