Journals Book Club ~ April
WELCOME to the Journals Book Club! Each month I will post books that can be read by everyone. A forum for each book will be created where you can post your thoughts about the books in our book club.
I encourage you to read along with me this month! We will start off with two books. Please see below for the recommended reading.
The Freedom Writers Diary
by The Freedom Writers & Erin Gruwell
How a Teacher and 150 Teens Used Writing to Change
Themselves and the World Around Them
The Freedom Writers Diary is the amazing true story of strength, courage, and achievement in the face of adversity. In the fall of 1994, in Room 203 at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California, an idealistic twenty-four-year-old teacher named Erin Gruwell faced her first group of students, dubbed by the administration as "unteachable, at-risk" teenagers. This group was unlike any she had ever interacted with.
