Tropical Fruit Smoothie Recipe
A creamy and delicious tropical fruit smoothie is a great escape from cold weather or a busy existence. Smoothies are a great way to experiment with different fruits, veggie and super food additions. This smoothie has no veggies but it is packed with vitamins, protein, and a sweet tropical flavor.
I make individual smoothies with my Nutribullet. I use a combination of fresh and frozen fruit in most of my smoothies. You can use all fresh fruit or all frozen fruit. I like to have some frozen fruit to make the smoothie colder.
Tropical Fruit Smoothie
2 Cups Almond Milk
1 Small Orange
½ Cup Frozen Pineapple
½ Cup Frozen Mango
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Protein Powder
1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds
1 Teaspoon Coconut Flakes
Peel orange and cut into smaller pieces. Add orange, pineapple and mango to the blender. Then add almond milk, protein powder, chia seeds, and coconut flakes. Blend ingredients together.
This is a simple smoothie to make with a great flavor. You can experiment with different fruits or additions to the smoothie. I mixed vanilla protein powder with hemp protein powder to add an extra boost to the smoothie. Coconut flakes add an extra hint of tropical flavor to the smoothie. If you do not want to use coconut flakes, you can also use coconut oil.
There is a great tropical flavor to this smoothie. The pineapple has a very strong flavor. If you are not so happy with a strong pineapple flavor, use less pineapple. A little bit of pineapple goes a long way in a fruit smoothie. Adjust the flavor to your liking.
Almond milk works great for this smoothie but you can use any liquid that you want. You can use dairy milk, soy milk, coconut milk, coconut water or plain water. Milk gives it a creamy texture that water would not accomplish. Coconut milk would stick to the tropical theme of the smoothie.
What I like about a smoothie like this is that it is not just delicious. It is a nutritious smoothie as well. It is packed with vitamin C, omega fatty acids and protein. It is great to boost your energy before or after a workout. This smoothie could be used as an awesome breakfast smoothie or a snack. It is a delicious treat and an immune system booster at the same time.
