Fade to Red
This week, I have two new books to share with you, and the first is Susan Krinard's Kinsman's Oath (Berkley). I remember really enjoying her Kinsman novella in the "Out of this World" anthology a couple years ago, so I was looking forward to diving into this one. Ronan VelKalevi is escaping from the race of aliens who've held him since childhood. Cynara D'Accorso happens to be in the right place to save him when he believes all is lost, taking him onto her ship. But Ronan may still prove a danger to her human crew, despite his own background. If you're looking to lose yourself in complete fantasy for a few hours, pick this book up. Ms. Krinard is a talented writer and has proven she does well in more than one paranormal storytelling area. This book is no exception. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one. Definitely a keeper.
The second book I have this week is Linda Castillo's Fade to Red(Berkley). Lindsey Metcalf is determined to find her missing sister Traci, no matter what the police in Seattle say. Michael Striker isn't looking for a relationship, just a way to possibly save his life. If he's lucky, he might get both when he takes on Lindsey's quest to find her sister. Lindsey is what you hope a strong heroine will be when you pick up a romance novel--scarred but refusing to give up, refusing to let her past rule her future. Striker is a bit like a Linda Howard hero, tough and a little bit dangerous, but determined to do the right thing no matter what. This is another keeper. I can't wait to see what she does next. This one's earned four arrows as well!
Until next time, happy reading!
