The Holiday Gift of Scent - Always Works!
Yes it's gift-giving time again! Instead of the typical fruitcake or thermal socks (the socks might actually feel good though) for Christmas gifts, the gift of scent will always make a great substitute.
Everything from scented soaps to perfume sprays will fit the bill for list of friends and family. However, before everyone else gets a gift, why not give to "You" first this year. After all, you'll be spending time out and about in the mist of chaos and frantic shoppers looking for gifts for others.
So what can you give to You? How about a nice blend for nice relaxing bath? Bath salts can provide you with a way to relax after you’ve been out and about with the frantic shoppers. I use to work retail, yes, shoppers can become pretty unglued this time of year.
By adding essential oils to your bath salts, it allows you to ease right into a relaxed state of being. Water allows you to relax as well and when adding essential oils and sea salt the combinations moves you to another level of contentment.
Essential Oils for the Fragrant Bath and other uses
Citrus oils added to a warm bath have been known to warm your spirits. Orange, neroli, bergamot, grapefruit and lemon are all oils that have been used to lift your mood and spirits. Adding 10 drops total to ¼ cup of milk or 5 drops total to a cup of sea salt will act as a base for the essential oils to attach to. This will keep the oils from floating on top of your bath water and possibly irritating your skin.
Lavender often referred to as the: be all end all essential oil, has been known to bring about an extremely relaxing bath. It can also be added to a soothing body oil for after/shower bath use.
Did you get caught in the cross fire of someone's cough or sneeze while out shopping? Got you feeling zapped of energy? Add a few drops (2-3) of rosemary and lavender essential oil to Epsom salt and a tub of warm water. Relax for 15-20 minutes and then ease into your bed for the night and sleep it off.
If you haven't discovered the soothing and nourishing powers of essential oils and aromatherapy, now’s as good a time as any. You mind, your body and your nose will thank you for it.
That's it for this week …
