Try This Updo For a Wedding or The Prom
This elegant updo is sophisticated and softly feminine. By replacing the head-piece with a thin crown or band made of pearls or rhinestones, it can be just as effective for the prom as it is for a wedding
To create this style:
Shampoo and condition your hair with products formulated for your hair texture.
Towel dry and apply a firm hold styling foam or gel.
Blow dry and lightly spray your hair with hairspray to give it more texture and body.
Set your hair on hot rollers, using the small rollers to create as much curl as possible.
When the rollers are cool, remove them and loosen the curls with your fingers.
Backcomb lightly all over.
Pull the hair straight up, smoothing it as you go and pin all around with bobby pins. Make sure they are secure by crossing the bobby pins in an X pattern.
If your hair is too heavy in back to stay up, you can style it into a twist for a firmer hold. See how to do this here.- French Twist or Roll
An important part of this elegant hairstyle is the soft tendrils falling gracefully at the neckline. To create this soft look, pull out a strand of hair at each ear and a few strands across the back of the style. Curl them into soft tendrils.
The wedding head piece or other ornamentation is put in place at this time - before the style is completed. It should fit around your head, just behind your bangs and over the bobby pins. Anchor it in position, using bobby pins for extra firmness.
Pull the hair up through the top and begin to create the curls, one by one. Form the curls to fit around the crown or ornamentation.
Try this method for creating the curls. Curls
For all day hold, spray each curl, including the tendrils, with a firm hold hairspray. Top off this beautiful hairstyle with a spritz of spray shine for the perfect finish.
