XBox Price Drops to $149.99
Starting March 30, 2004, the XBox will now cost only $149.99. The aim is to get owners of PS2s and GameCubes to up the graphics ante and give Halo a try!
I have to say that we own all 3 systems and we definitely enjoy the XBox games quite a bit. Other adults that we know who game all own XBox systems even if they also have a PS2 as a backup. GameCube systems seem to be mostly in the hands of those families with younger kids, because of the game selection available and the GameCube's inability to play CDs or DVDs.
If you haven't played Halo yet, or Dark Alliance 2, or especially Splinter Cell, it's time to get your own XBox! The graphics are simply phenomonal, and there are many XBox only games that are well worth having.
If you DO have an XBox already, this is great news for you too! Now hopefully all your friends can get XBoxes and you can play online with them!
2007 Update
In our world of consoles that cost $600, it seems so cute to look back to when a cutting-edge console was only $150 - and to think that it was considered expensive just a few years ago. It shows how technology is always leapfrogging, and how our perception of price changes over time!
