President Obama is trying to pass a law that will eventually require every person, in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico, to be micro chipped. He wishes to computerise all medical records to “…modernise healthcare by making all health records standardized and electronic…”

The microchip will (to begin with) contain our medical histories which will be stored in vast data banks on the Internet. We all know how unsafe the Internet is and how it is possible for any system to be ‘hacked’. And what if the computer systems themselves malfunction, how will the chips be scanned to retrieve the medical records? What if data is corrupted after the paper records have been destroyed? There are so many pitfalls and for what?

Some say this is an apocalyptic prediction that can be found in the Bible:

And it will cause all, the small and the great, and the poor, and the free and the bond to have a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads and it will bring it about that no one may be able to buy or sell, except him who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of its name. Apocalypse 13:16-17

Two hundred Alzheimer's patients living in the Florida area were 'chipped' with the a free microchip from VeriChip Corp. This company has invested billions of pounds to create openings in the market for their microchips. They wish to implant microchips into diabetics and people with heart conditions so that in a medical staff can quickly pull up medical records.

Animals are micro chipped. Domestic animals such as dogs and cats are required to be chipped to uphold the insurance companies’ policy conditions. It is now being found that microchips implanted beneath an animal’s skin can cause tumours and cancer.

A lawsuit alleges that Merck's HomeAgain pet microchip induces tumours in pets and since 1998 laboratory rats were developing cancer from microchip implants under their skin.

If this is happening to our animals what is going to happen to us? Is the risk of cancer worth knowing if we are allergic to penicillin? Specially designed bracelets and necklaces can be purchase and medical conditions can be written on paper record provided within. If we have serious medical issues it makes sense to carry some information around with us, but under our skin?

When it became compulsory for you to be implanted with a microchip, that could someday make you sick and that in the future would be used for more invasive information gathering than just your medical history, would you consent to being micro-chipped?
