Almost ACME Coleslaw Recipe

Almost ACME Coleslaw Recipe
ACME Oyster House , located on Iberville, just off Bourbon Street in New Orleans, serves some of the best and freshest seafood on the planet. There is always a line of expectant diners out the door and halfway down the block, and has been since 1910 when the establishment first opened its doors. Although it’s almost impossible to duplicate their incredible seafood, they also offer delicious traditional Cajun dishes like Seafood Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, Crawfish Étouffée, and a long list of Po’ Boys. Of course there are a few excellent side dishes, too, such as hush puppies and coleslaw. Their coleslaw is excellent, and the following Almost ACME Coleslaw is a clone that can be served with any kind of seafood or as a side dish at one of your summer barbecues. This clone is, in fact, close enough to the real thing, you’ll think you’re in New Orleans.

Creole mustard varies by brand. Some is quite hot, and some is on the mild side. If yours is hot, you can cut down on the amount in the recipe, however, ACME’s version has a fairly significant bite. Several brands of Creole mustard can be found at most major grocery stores, but if you need an excuse to pick some up that is locally made and totally authentic, this coleslaw may be the perfect excuse to travel to New Orleans to check out the local brands. Of course if you're there, you’ll want to dine at ACME, where you’ll be able to taste this excellent coleslaw in its true form.
