1963 - From Russia With Love
James Bond’s new adventure puts him on the trail of a Lektor, a Russian decoding device, that the British are keen to get their hands on. Traveling to Istanbul, Bond has his hands full with the beautiful Russian agent, Tatiana Romanova, who’s also being double crossed by her superiors. But he also has to look out for SPECTRE, with cronies Rosa Klebb and Grant, who plans to annihilate him. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching 1963’s “From Russia With Love”.

∙ After the belly dance number at the gypsy camp, the front view of Bond shows him take his handkerchief out of his pocket with his right hand and he uses both hands to unfold it in front of him. The scene cuts to a right side view and Bond is holding the handkerchief in his right hand next to the table. It cuts back to the front view of him and he’s wiping both hands with the handkerchief.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! James, Tatiana and Kerim Bey are on the train. After Bey gets killed, the train arrives in Beogard. The close-up of Bond’s contact (Bey’s son) when the train rolls into the station shows his jacket pocket with the handkerchief is on his right side. When he walks over to James and begins talking, the jacket pocket and handkerchief are now on his left.

∙ Bond is trying to convince Grant to let him have a cigarette. James shows him the fifty gold sovereigns that are in his case and in the rear view, when Grant asks if there are anymore in the other case, Bond’s hands are down, not touching the briefcase. It cuts to a close, left side view of Bond and both hands are holding the top of the briefcase. Also during this scene, in the rear view of Bond, Grant is putting his glove on his left hand. In the side view of Bond, Grant is putting it on his right hand.

∙ When Bond runs from the helicopter and even when he shoots it from the sky, he’s wearing his hat on his head. It cuts to a view of the helicopter crashing and then back to Bond and his hat is gone.

“From Russia With Love” (1963) stars Sean Connery, Daniela Bianchi, Pedro Armendariz, Lotte Lenya, Robert Shaw, Bernard Lee and Lois Maxwell. It runs 115 minutes and is rated PG for violence and intense scenes.
