Most people around the world are aware that Australia is a very old country, with evidence of human habitation that dates back to over 60,000 years or so.
What people sometimes don’t understand is that Australia is a very young country in terms of when it was first settled by white people.

In 2018 Australia will celebrate its 230th birthday since an Englishman landed on the soil of Australia and declared the island for the United Kingdom.

Because we a such a young country, the number of leaders of our nation are relatively small compared to other nations. Australia has had 28 leaders of government and hence Prime Ministers since 1770.
