300
In 480 BC, King Xerxes of Persia amasses a vast army to annihilate any and all who stand in his way. When he arrives off of the cost of Greece, King Leonidas of Sparta must defend his homeland and his people, including his wife, Queen Gorgo, and son, against the threat of destruction. Leonidas, along with 300 of his own men and the help of the neighboring Arcadians, travels to head off their foes. With the threat of invasion imminent, the men come up with a plan to meet the Persians head on in the mountain pass of Thermopylae even if it means certain death. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “300”.
∙ Near the beginning of the movie, King Leonidas is talking to the messenger sent to Sparta by Xerxes. After explaining what Xerxes wants, the messenger instructs Leonidas to choose wisely. Leonidas then steps away from him. In the rear view of Leonidas, his hair braid falls over his cape on his back. But, when the scene cuts to a close-up of him and his braid appears to be beneath the cape.
∙ Leonidas climbs the cliffs to ask the Oracle about the fate of Sparta. The Oracle is wearing a white pin/clip on the right shoulder of her robe/gown. When the Oracle begins to move in the mist, the scene cuts to Leonidas and then back to the Oracle. In the full front view of the Oracle, the pin is now on her left shoulder.
∙ During battle, the Persians fire a volley of arrows on the Spartans. Afterwards, Leonidas takes his sword and cuts off the length of the arrows that are stuck in his shield. The tips of the arrow is imbedded in his shield with part of the length still protruding out. Leonidas then runs to take a better look at the Persians but the arrows are now gone from his shield.
“300” stars Gerard Butler, Lena Headley, Dominic West, David Wenham, Vincent Regan, Michael Fassbender and Rodrigo Santoro. It runs 117 minutes and is rated R for graphic battle sequences throughout, some sexuality and nudity.
