Baby It’s You - 10 Quilts and Bags - Book Review
Leisure Arts Baby It’s You webpage
I recently received an eBook - Baby It’s You – 10 Quilts and Bags by Amy Hamberlin to review on Bellaonline – The Voice of Women Quilting site.
Amy Hamberlin has brought her unique classy touch to the delightful creations she presents in this publication. I will say, that from my point of view, this quilt book is not for the true beginner quilter – there are details on the quilt that will take some extra skills and may bamboozle a novice quilter.
Having said that, the book is chock full of really classy, chic little quilts and bags to make for someone dear to your heart.
Amy has a special quality when it comes to colour selection – all of the quilts feature soft pastel tones and are especially user friendly for the soft pastel designed nursery.
Each quilt has a little bit of “bling” by way of tasteful appliqué, a frilled edge or other 3 dimensional embellished effects. Amy has used large rick rack that looks wonderful on these special quilts. Quilt borders are not the usual square affair – Amy loves to bring scalloped and wavy edges into her quilts and does so very effectively.
The bags that Amy has included in this publication include two totes and a very swish diaper and wipes bag.
The photographs are great – although I sometimes find it hard to decipher the actual block when so many “busy” fabrics are used – but I know this is the popular way of making quilts these days. The diagrams are easily understood and simple quilting language is used throughout this book.
The instructions seem very wordy – but I guess that’s what quilters what – very elaborate and understandable sets of instructions accompanied with clear diagrams and photographs. This book has that in abundance.
I believe that every one of the quilts and bags featured in Baby It’s You will provide a wonderful gift for the mother to be. Amy Hamberlin has taken lots of time and made great efforts to provide a really clever and very cute package of quilts for babies. I thoroughly recommend this publication.
