Sara Winthrop was the Vice President of Marketing for LightPulse Productions, a fast growing video game company located in Portland, Oregon. Teddy Rutherford was the VP of Research & Development, and son of James Rutherford, the founder of the company. Sara was a rising star due to her marketing ability, but often butt heads with a spoiled and annoying Teddy.

Sara was a hard working mother of three whose husband walked out of their life two years ago. She could be strident and sharp with those she worked with, but she loved her children and seemed to be a good mother. One day she got a call from her son Jacob’s school letting her know Jacob disappeared during the Kindergartner’s outdoor recess. As she was leaving work to check on her son, she received a call that her twin daughters were missing from their school as well.

When Sara realized her children were kidnapped, she did what she thought best in order to get them back alive. That meant following the odd and sometimes embarrassing instructions of a kidnapper who seemed to want Sara to jump through hoops by playing a sick game in order to get her family back. She was sure that Teddy had something to do with her missing children.

Although the kidnapper said no police involvement, two detectives started working on the case. During their investigation they found a woman beaten and held captive in the basement of Teddy’s mansion, and the heir to LightPulse Productions was nowhere to be found.

Sara’s Game was written by Ernie Lindsey, author of a number of mystery-suspense novels. The story has numerous twists and turns with a number of redirects that will keep readers looking in the wrong direction much of the time as they try to solve the puzzle. It is fast-paced and builds in intensity as the Game is played out and it’s an interesting ride if you stay with it.

Personally, I wish the ending could have been a little more upbeat, but it was probably more realistic in the long run. For the most part, Sara's Game was unusual and full of surprises. If you like unique and exciting suspense thrillers, check this one out.
