More on Mill Creek Country Club
This past Friday my usual day to play golf was cold and raining so did not venture far from the house. On Saturday morning it turned warmer and the sun came out to warm things up I went to the temporary trailers to leave cookies and pay my January golf bill. Things were really humming around the place to I had to be careful where I parked as a big flat bed truck and tractor was cutting down branches from a tree. Golf carts pulling around for golfers to load their clubs as today would be a busy one with the warm weather returning.
I was told that work was progressing very well with the club house and the big pond was filling up with water. I had brought my camera and decided to walk around to snap some pictures of all the activity. I was amazed at how nice the new pond looked as it will need a few more days to fill it completely. There were two pipes sticking up in the middle and was told that is where the new fountain will be places. I was visiting with a friend who is working with the golf course and we discussed if they were going to rim all around the pond with limestone boulders as they had the top part of the edge covered with tarp. It certainly is going to be a show piece when it is all finished.
Returning to the club house I noticed they had started to expand the club house towards the swimming pool. This shows a good improvement and could tell how far they have come with this expansion. The extended part will be the pro-shop which will give them a great view of the pool and the number one and ten tee off boxes. The pro shop will be enlarged for more space for offices, golf equipment and clothes.
As I walked around to the front of the building this is where all the activity was going on with big truck and tractor were working on a tree. They had the front of the club house sidewalks all tore up to make way for the expansion to the front of the building. All this work had continued even if it was a Saturday morning. With the sun warming up real nice more golfers were coming and going. The activity of working on the club house continued. It had been noted in the newspaper that their deadline of March 15 or Apri1 1st means they will be working early and late to finish the project.
I will continue with my updates until all activities are in full swing at Mill Creek Country Club. Lessons are to start soon for the juniors on each Saturday and hope they get a group of new lady golfers for the beginner lessons. I would like to help work with them as the beginner lessons progress.
New announcement came today of plans for an open house celebrations with a scramble, putting contest and BBQ dinner. No date set as yet so stayed tuned.
