Just in time for Black History Month, CENTRIC kicks-off the celebration with the original weekly series, BEING. The 8 episode one-hour docu-series chronicles the life and times of gospel icon Donnie McClurkin, Wendy Williams, Chaka Khan, Al Sharpton, Dionne Warwick, Ruben Studdard and more. Viewers will follow the challenges, drama and politics that brought them to the top and they reveal the compelling and unknown stories that are sure to inspire audiences everywhere.
The show will premieres February 15, 2014 at 9PM ET on CENTRIC. Being takes a riveting look at the journey many African American celebrities have encountered. Often beating the odds and rising from tough environments.
Hip hop icon, Big Daddy Kane, is the narrator for the series which features exclusive interviews and the artist telling viewers what it is like BEING them at different points in their career and life. Through candid dialogue, archival footage and photos spanning these legends' careers, the audience will see them in a new light.
There will also be interviews from family, associates and friends which will make fans laugh and cry as they gain access to never- before-documented moments in the lives of some of their favorite celebrities. Being captures their world beyond the stage and the studio, digging deeper to showcase the triumphs, hopes, fears and what's next for them. Journey beyond the velvet rope and take an unfiltered glimpse into the lives of the world's most well-known in music, TV, film and politics as they share their stories...flaws and all.
