Basil in Low Carb Cooking
Basil is an incredibly easy to grow herb for your window - and it adds fresh, delicious flavor to a variety of dishes. Here are just a few ideas for healthy, low carb eating with basil.

Basil in Low Carb Cooking Basil with Meatballs
This is one of my go-to meals when nothing else is available. It's so easy. You keep meatballs in your freezer - either low carb ones you buy from the store or ones you've made yourself and frozen. You add in low carb tomato sauce which you have on your shelf. Nuke for the time listed - usually under three minutes - and then sprinkle on the basil. It's something you can always make. You don't have to worry about what's in the fridge or what has "gone bad". It's always there for you, it's got good protein and nutrition, and it's very tasty!

This one requires that you have the fresh tomatoes ready in the fridge, as well as mozzarella. But other than that it's quick and easy. Just keep those tomatoes and mozzarella cubes on your shopping list.

I adore mushrooms, and they're good for you, too. This recipe involves a bit more work, but it's well worth it. An ideal way to use some of that basil!

Another one that takes some work but is oh so worth it. Spaghetti squash is a great squash to play with. It's filling, tasty, and nutritious.

We've grown basil in our window for years, and it pretty much self maintains. We have it in a window that gets light for a few hours a day, and we occasionally water it. That's it. We pluck off the leaves as we need them, and it makes more. Highly recommended!
