The Santa Clause 2
Scott Calvin has dutifully been Santa Claus for the last few years. But things aren’t going smoothly this year. Not only does he find out that Charlie, his own son, is on the naughty list for pranks he’s pulled at school, it’s also revealed that if he doesn’t marry before Christmas, aka The Mrs. Clause, then the magic of Santa will be lost forever. In order to remedy both situations, Scott decides to visit his son and the school’s principal while leaving a look-alike robot in charge at the North Pole. But chaos ensues when the fake Santa decides to put everyone on the naughty list. Can Scott deal with the mess at the North Pole while the clock for the Mrs. Clause ticks down? Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Santa Clause 2”.
• After the elves dump the static free tinsel on them, Bernard takes the tinsel off. In the close-up view, when he tells Curtis “you need to tell him right now!”, there is silver tinsel in his hair, dangling near his left shoulder. It cuts to a front view of Curtis (left side view of Bernard) when he says “he’s happy right now” and the tinsel in Bernard’s hair is gone. It’s back again when it cuts back to the close-up of Bernard.
• The fake/toy Santa is reading the handbook with a magnifying glass when Abby offers him cocoa. In the close-up, after he shuts his mouth, “Santa” puts the magnifying glass on the book and reaches for the cup. The magnifying glass is still on the book in the side view when Abby tells him it’s hot. But in the next close-up of Santa, when he says “of course it is”, the magnifying glass is gone. It cuts to Curtis and then back to Santa and the magnifying glass is back. It’s gone again when Santa sets the cup down and then it’s back when he says “I like it”.
• When Scott’s date first sits down at the table, there is a white napkin folded on the table in front of her. As she’s taking her red coat off, the napkin is gone. The napkin is back again when she first shows him the charm bracelet. It’s gone when she puts her arm down. After she finishes singing and sits down, the front close-up shows the napkin is disheveled on the plate in front of her. When it cuts to the right side view, it’s gone but back again in the close-up.
“The Santa Clause 2” (2002) stars Tim Allen, Elizabeth Mitchell, David Krumholtz, Eric Lloyd, Judge Reinhold, Wendy Crewson, Spencer Breslin, Art LaFleur, Aisha Tyler, Kevin Pollack and Michael Dorn. It runs 104 minutes and is rated G.
