Bad Alphabet - Book Review

Bad Alphabet - Book Review
A bright, bright yellow book with a slick and shiny cover. This will catch the eyes of a child… and "THE BAD ALPHABET"by E. C. Chen can teach the children about manners and the way they should behave. By going through the alphabet letter by letter and page by page they will see the disobedient and defiant actions of Lance the Lizard. It shows by demonstration the bad behavior and visually gives examples of what not to do.

Through reinforcement and rereading the book these lessons are here to be learned: If you don't do these things you will have better luck making new friends.

Poor Lance the lizard! - the book shows examples of his many bad behaviors such as GREED, BITING, and MISCHIEF.

This book has some big words that kids might not know the meaning of such as: RUDENESS ,ETIQUETTE, NUISANCE and INSULTING, but through the pages of this book and by seeing what Lance does they can come to understand what bad behavior is and what these words mean.

Kids will want to read this book repeatedly as they may see themselves in Lance, and through this repetition they will learn. The trainings in this book will help kids at home, or at school or just out in the community.

The colorful illustrations are large and engaging. The font is a good size for kids and for someone reading the book to a child. However, I felt that the paper of the pages was too thin, and it was possible to see print coming through to the page on the other side of the paper.

Lance the Lizard teaches some good lessons that I think would be well read to children. The hard cover makes it seem like a book that would be good and sturdy in a child's hands, but I am not sure if the constant wear from a child's hands will allow the book and/or its pages to last too long, and yet if the lessons are learned and reinforced and the child loves the book then even if it wears out it has done its job.

Special Note: I received a hardcover copy of this book from the publisher of ZEBRA GINKGO GROUP in exchange for an honest review.
