Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes is the fourth film released for the Case Closed anime franchise. The film, which was directed by Kenji Kodama, was released to Japanese theaters on April 22, 2000. FUNimation Entertainment, which holds the North American distribution rights for the film, released it on DVD on December 29, 2009.

The film opens with Ran/Rachel having a flashback of when Shinichi/Jimmy took her to Tropical Land. This quickly changes to seeing Conan using his voice changing bowtie to sound like Shinichi in order to talk to Ran/Rachel on a payphone.

After his phone call, Conan runs into the other members of the Junior Detective League. Not too long afterwards, a police detective is murdered in the phone booth that Conan had used. Unfortunately, the murderer is able to get away. Later, another police detective is found murdered in a parking lot.

Kogoro/Richard, Ran/Rachel, Conan, and Sonoko/Serena attend a wedding celebration for the sister of one of the police detectives that works with Inspector Megure. Kogoro/Richard's ex-wife is also at the party. During the party, Ran/Rachel and a female detective are in the women's restroom when the lights suddenly go out. Ran/Rachel discovers a flashlight that's on in a cabinet under a sink, and she takes it out just in time to catch a glimpse of someone's face as the female detective is shot. Ran is so shocked by the incident that she develops amnesia; however, the amnesia only affects her memories of other people. The rest of the film focuses on Conan not only trying to solve the mystery, but to also try to find a way to help Ran/Rachel regain her memory.

I really liked the plot point of Ran/Rachel developing amnesia. This allowed the viewer to see more of Kogoro/Richard's ex-wife, as well as the interactions between these two characters. I also felt really bad for Ran/Rachel, especially when she has the sad and vacant look in her eyes when she's trying to remember the people around her.

The mystery itself really kept me guessing for a good portion of the film. It was rather late in the film before I was able to guess the correct person as the murderer. Even when I did finally figure out who it would have been, I really didn't figure out the guilty party's motive before the big reveal during the climax.

When it comes to this DVD release, the only "extra" included were trailers for other properties that FUNimation was promoting at the time the company released Captured in Her Eyes.

Of the four Case Closed films I have seen up to this point, I think Captured in Her Eyes is the best one. If you're a Case Closed fan that wants to have everything that FUNimation has released for the series, then you need to add this DVD to your home video collection.
